Many individuals who follow the Nutritarian diet write to Dr. Fuhrman about their success. Keep in mind that results vary from person to person. As always, consult your physician if you have a medical history and/or condition that may warrant individual recommendations.
Early menopause and infertility caused Erica's depression and chest pains, now both ailments have subsided and she feels great
Two years ago I started having hot flashes. I was only 35 years old and during my sixteen years of marriage I had been experiencing infertility. My fertility doctor told me I was going through menopause and that my eggs were nonviable. My heartbreak led to deep depression that I was not even fully aware of.
The hot flashes would send me into fits of panic and deep sorrow. I was becoming very volatile, irrational and having chest pains. I ate the standard American diet (SAD). My life was sad. I needed help, but didn't know what to do or who to turn to. I thought I needed a team of doctors to help me. A psychiatrist to help me with my broken heart, a gynecologist for the menopausal symptoms and a primary care physician and a cardiologist. There was one problem, we lost our health insurance the previous year and I was reluctant to rack up costly bills.
My husband and I were celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary the day we watched Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead. My husband was overweight and we both were convinced juicing could really help us. And it did! Within three days my chest pains were gone, my emotional angst subsided and I was losing weight. After 60 days of juicing my husband lost 35 pounds and had less aches and pains and swelling. We were convinced that this was a new lifestyle and not just a fad diet.
Today we juice every morning, eat a large salad for lunch and I prepare different recipes from the Eat to Live Cookbook for dinner. Something I'm really proud of is that I just had a carotenoid reading of 97,000! (A scanner is able to use blue light to measure the carotenoids in your skin). My number is off the charts good. The highest the doctor's office has ever seen. And I had only just begun taking vitamins three days before my reading. Hence, I did it all through food.
I want to tell Dr. Fuhrman about our results because it's amazing how our lives have changed. I'm doing my best to educate myself and keep refining the Nutritarian lifestyle. We are even looking into foster parenting now, something I could have never done before with my erratic mood swings.
This is a thank you letter to Dr Fuhrman (and should be to Joe Cross for Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead as well). There is medicine in food! Thanks to you guys I'm medication free and getting better every day!
