Many individuals who follow the Nutritarian diet write to Dr. Fuhrman about their success. Keep in mind that results vary from person to person. As always, consult your physician if you have a medical history and/or condition that may warrant individual recommendations.
Brandy lost 18 pounds and won her five year battle with depression, no longer has acne, and is happier and more energetic than ever before
Growing up I was always chubbier than my friends. Raised in a typical American family with fast food dinners, I ate what all of my friends did and thought that being overweight was genetic; there was nothing I could do about it. At my peak weight of 167 pounds, (I am only 5ft.2in.) my doctor said I should start taking better care of my body. I was very unhappy with how I looked and realized he was right. I stopped eating fast foods and started eating more fruits and vegetables. After two years of doing this, and exercising, my weight went down to 128 pounds. I still felt extremely depressed and a bit heavy.
I came across Eat To Live and the idea of nutritional excellence clicked. All of a sudden everything made sense to me. It wasn't even about losing weight anymore, it was about being healthy. It made me realize that eating a diet rich in the foods my body was made to eat was the only way to avoid developing lupus (which my mother has), schizophrenia (grandmother), diabetes and high blood pressure (grandfather). All of these things were suddenly under my control. I started the six week plan outlined in Eat To Live and stuck with it. Now my diet satisfies my body not my mouth.
It feels great to finally have control over my health. My depression of five years is gone and my skin is completely clear of acne. I lost eighteen pounds over a six week span and feel absolutely amazing and energetic.
