Many individuals who follow the Nutritarian diet write to Dr. Fuhrman about their success. Keep in mind that results vary from person to person. As always, consult your physician if you have a medical history and/or condition that may warrant individual recommendations.
Julie no longer suffers from severe osteoarthritis, asthma or GERD
My husband and I were very interested in a plant based- diet for several years before we went full time. I was increasingly getting worried about my lab work and weight and my husband was waking up at night anxious about having a heart attack. We read Dr Fuhrman's book Eat to Live and loved the science behind his plant- based diet.
A year ago, I was on three asthma medications, one stomach medication and a cocktail of ibuprofen and acetaminophen due to severe pain due to osteoarthritis in all of my large joints. My A1-c and cholesterol labs were high and the doctor was threatening me with medication. I knew If I continued the way I was going I was going to add diabetes medication and continue a slow weight gain every year of 5-7 pounds. I said NOT ME!
We started the diet and one year later when I went to my doctor for my lab and annual check- up I asked her to compare that year’s labs with last year’s blood work. She kept saying “oh my, this is great!” My A1C dropped to within high normal so no need for medication, my cholesterol labs dropped 50 points. I am within normal results. I am no longer taking any medication for asthma and stomach GERD, only an occasional ibuprofen during very damp weather.
I am moving more than I have in years, getting stronger and feel great and younger! I am trending in the right direction full of hope and energy making one healthy decision at a time. I lost 13 pounds and still want to lose more weight and that is the next focus. My husband is also following your plant-based diet and we make it a personal challenge to go out to eat and stay plant based! Thank you, Dr. Fuhrman for the opportunity.
