Little by little over the past ten years my weight was creeping up, and while it may not be as dramatic or extreme as some, the extra 15 pounds was becoming uncomfortable and was starting to creep up from my waistline to create a new pouch of fat I'd never had before. I had tried a high protein diet thinking that it would help me drop the weight in 2011, but I lost nothing and my cholesterol was up to 363. I stopped eating that way and tried a less extreme approach and the number went down to 247, but still too high. I was also starting to show signs of pre-diabetes.
I saw Dr Fuhrman's PBS special and he made a lot of sense. After four months I dropped 18 pounds eating a ton of delicious food. My constant sugar cravings disappeared in a few days. I have been using many of the recipes and am taking the time to cook even just for myself. My cholesterol dropped to 154. Another great benefit is not being constipated as I had been. My arthritis in my low back seems toned down. This is an approach that both makes sense and feels wonderful.
