Many individuals who follow the Nutritarian diet write to Dr. Fuhrman about their success. Keep in mind that results vary from person to person. As always, consult your physician if you have a medical history and/or condition that may warrant individual recommendations.
Harold no longer needs cholesterol medication and has more energy than ever
A good friend shared his success story with me. He was diagnosed as a diabetic and had to decide between taking insulin and two oral medications or following the Nutritarian diet. He chose the Nutritarian diet, lost 30 pounds the first month, and is no longer diabetic or taking any medications. That story along with my mother beginning to take insulin and my blood work showing I was prediabetic was the perfect storm for me to have an "aha" moment.
Before the Nutritarian diet, my total cholesterol was 192 while taking 40 mg of Simvastatin each day. Against my doctor's recommendation, I took myself off Simvastatin and started the Nutritarian diet. One year later my total cholesterol without Simvastatin fell to 157. This is the lowest my cholesterol has been my entire life and my doctor said cholesterol medicine was no longer needed.
Additionally, my total glucose fell from 103 to 99, A1C from 5.9 to 5.5, HDL improved from 52 to 55, LDL from 108 to 85, and triglycerides from 159 to 87. The start and stop dates for all results took place from May 2017 to May 2018. This is the best I have looked and felt in years. I have more energy and feel more relaxed due to lower blood pressure. I started off adjusting to the Nutritarian diet gradually but follow it closely today and continue to improve my fitness and weight loss. Losing 54 pounds occurred rather slow, and I'm amazed at how many coworkers tell me I look like I have lost a lot of weight. Thank you, Dr. Fuhrman.
