Conquering her food addiction enabled Jessica to lose 43 pounds and enjoy good health
Most likely you are reading this because you have a desire to lose weight, get healthier or both. I was in your shoes not so long ago, deeply and quietly suffering and longing for change. At 158 pounds I was significantly overweight, felt terrible inside, dressed to hide instead of dressing to shine. I hated shopping for clothes and avoided the scale like a plague. I felt like a victim.
I was so frustrated because it seemed I knew how to lose weight (eat right and work out, right), but something always held me captive when I went to eat. I would eat until I felt sick and then resolve it wasn't worth it and tell myself next time I wouldn't do it. When next time came, it was as if I was an addict and all resolve gave way after the first glance. Despite being obsessed with getting thin, fits of intense workouts, and desperate attempts like trying to just stop eating all together, or even attempting to become bulimic (didn't work), I continued to spiral out of control until one night I hit rock bottom.
That was the night I found Dr. Fuhrman's book, Eat To Live. In that moment, with that first page, little did I know I had just permanently changed my life and opinion of food and good health forever. Little did I know I would lose more than just the 43 pounds that melted off effortlessly within five months time. Not only did I end up smaller than I was before I had my first child, I was able to completely make peace with food. I used to hate eating and felt helpless, hopeless and disgusted with my lack of self-control.
Eat To Live put me back into the driver's seat with regard to my food and portion choices, allowing me to truly enjoy and treasure the life giving foods I adore my body now. I feel beautiful again, and all my old health issues have just vanished, from acne that even Accutane couldn't cure, to a lifelong sleep disorder, migraines, eczema and depression, I feel like I have been renewed inside and out. I will forever be indebted to Dr. Fuhrman for writing the book that enabled me to finally start living.
It has been a few years since my discovery of Dr. Fuhrman's eating style, and I am proud to say I continue to be happy, healthy by follow the Nutritarian program. I have moved internationally twice since the beginning of my journey. Through these years I have had the privilege of helping others discover the joys of the Nutritarian lifestyle, and how it enables one to truly love oneself.
As far as health benefits, I think it is most amazing that in the beginning I started with migraines that went away. When I would have a cheat moment, I would get a headache. Over the years, it's as if my body has healed its immune function, to where if I do end up eating something I shouldn't, I don't get a migraine. My migraines are truly gone. That to me is amazing. My skin is still clear, my blood pressure is usually 89/60 or something similar. My pulse is so much slower, usually in the 60's or 70's while walking around.
Even if a person eats SAD food in a moment of weakness, Nutritarian eating makes you feel so amazing, you cannot help but continue where you left off once you shake off how terrible a moment of indiscretion can make you feel. I don't see how anyone can fail living like this. It feels good, it tastes good, it makes me look wonderful and feel well. All the brownies in the world couldn't change my mind.
