About a year ago I read Eat To Live and since then it has been an incredible journey. I began dieting at around age fifteen and spent many years losing weight only to slowly gain it back again. By the time I found Eat To Live, once again, I was on a quest to get down to a healthy BMI and feel good about my body. But more important, I wanted to improve my overall health, and I knew diet played a key role. I had an excellent base knowledge of nutrition and had spent the last several years slowly improving my dietary habits. When I began the six week challenge I was predominantly a vegan but ate a lot of healthy junk food (soy ice cream, vegan cookies, meat substitutes) and wasn't eating nearly enough whole foods like fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds.
Since adopting Dr.Fuhrman's recommendations I lost 20 pounds and have managed to keep it off all while eating an abundance of delicious high nutrient food. I just wish I had found out much sooner you could eat that much food and still lose weight. In addition to the sustained weight loss, my sinus pressure headaches which I used to get weekly are almost completely gone, I was able to discontinue my toxic topical acne medications and my skin is much clearer than it was. My digestive system is healthier than ever and I feel pretty incredible.
That's not to say that this journey hasn't had its bumps in the road and I am far from a perfect in following Eat To Live. I continue to fall down from time to time, particularly as I deal with the emotional aspects of my relationship to food. But with the incredible base knowledge I have learned from Dr. Fuhrman and his books, I am able to get right back up and I have the tools to get back on track. This is the first time in my life where I have been able to successfully lose weight and keep it off. And I know that I am feeding my body the healthiest most nutritious foods on the planet.
