After years of being a food addict and yo-yo dieting Marlise.joined the Detox and Weight Loss Challenge, lost 33 pounds, and learned new healthy habits
I was raised eating the standard American diet, but as the years went on and I learned more about healthy living, I decided to give up meat and became a vegetarian. The unhealthy part was that I also ate dairy, refined flour, sugar, salt, and oil. I quickly became a food addict. In my early thirties, after having children, I started gaining weight. I have lost and regained 20 pounds over and over for the past fifteen years by yo-yo dieting. I would eat healthfully, lose the weight, and then go back to social eating and old habits only to gain it back again and usually more. Since I was addicted to the wrong foods, I could not t get out of this downward spiral. I felt stuck. I struggled with mild depression and anxiety, brain fog, low energy, snoring, indigestion, food sensitivities, was bloated and felt sick in general. I hated how much space this took up in my brain, consuming so much of my time and my life.
I remember praying for help. I felt so ashamed that I did not seem to have self- control when it came to eating these dangerous foods. Shortly after I received an email about Dr. Fuhrman’s Detox and Weight Loss Challenge and I signed up. The seven -month Weight Loss Challenge after the Detox program was a life changer for me. It allowed me the time to be accountable and practice what I had learned thereby creating new healthy habits, even through the holidays and difficult times.
I lost 33.6 pounds since May 2021 and I feel amazing! I no longer suffer with any of those health problems and my husband is pleased that I do not snore anymore. My mind has been set free from the guilt, depression, and the brain fog that I struggled with. I now have so much time to focus on others, on hobbies and other goals. I enjoy meals now more than I ever have, which I did not think was possible. I am so happy and love how my clothes fit. I have so much energy so that getting outside for exercise is now something I look forward to every day. Dr. Fuhrman taught me what true hunger is and I went from having an unsettled stomach daily, to not feeling my stomach at all anymore. I am living the life that I truly believe in; finally have self -control and feel free!
I am so grateful to Dr. Fuhrman, his supportive staff and to his support community. I have learned that I will always have to be careful to avoid SAD foods, but I have found delicious, healthy alternatives and have good habits in place now to move ahead to a happier and healthier future.
