Many individuals who follow the Nutritarian diet write to Dr. Fuhrman about their success. Keep in mind that results vary from person to person. As always, consult your physician if you have a medical history and/or condition that may warrant individual recommendations.

When Mary Lou's doctor warned her being overweight could lead to a stroke, she adapted the Nutritarian diet and lost 73 pounds
I started the Nutritarian diet because I was 213 pounds, my cholesterol was dangerously high and I was depressed over my appearance. My doctor said if you don't do something soon, you most likely will have a stroke. My brother had a stroke in his early 50's so I knew I had to make some major changes. I was the mother of two young girls and I didn't do much with them because I was embarrassed by my weight. My husband assured me I was beautiful, but all I could see was how fat I was.
I saw Dr. Fuhrman on PBS and bought his Eat to Live book. Tried it for a week and thought "this is too hard for me." But I kept trying it. Finally, on September 11, 2013, I decided to follow his diet no matter what and I'm still eating that way today. Yes, every now and then I have a treat or something that I knew he wouldn't approve of (LOL), but 90 percent of the time (maybe even 95 percent of the time) I follow his eating plan. And yes, I eat a BIG salad every single day to the point where my co-workers make fun of me.
The Nutritarian diet has changed my life in many ways. My cholesterol dropped without medication, I lost 73 pounds, I feel better mentally and physically. I have the stamina to work out now and I love it. Following this way of eating is one of the best decisions I have ever made.
