Many individuals who follow the Nutritarian diet write to Dr. Fuhrman about their success. Keep in mind that results vary from person to person. As always, consult your physician if you have a medical history and/or condition that may warrant individual recommendations.
James lost 30 pounds, is getting off his medications and buys Eat To Live to give to others
I caught a glimpse of Dr. Fuhrman on the Dr. Oz show, but missed everything but the G-BOMBS word. Sometime later my wife found an article about it in a magazine. I actually started trying Eat To Live from information in that article. It had a nice G-BOMBS chart, recipes and menu ideas. Of course, then I had to get the book. I have since bought at least five more copies of Eat To Live and given them to my friends and siblings. I also bought The End of Diabetes for my sister who has type1 diabetes. After she started reading and agreed to make the commitment, I invited her and her hubby to lunch. I showed them how I make large salads for lunch and dinner and let them try some of the dressings I use. My sister left me a message the other day saying that after a week and a half, she was thrilled because she had lost seven pounds and her hubby was down ten pounds.
I started my Eat To Live plan in early November. I weighed 207 pounds. I started losing weight right away. I felt bad after blowing it on a Thanksgiving feast, but still had lost some weight by the end of the week. During week three on the plan I saw my cardiologist and he cut out one of my blood pressure meds and cut another in half.
By Christmas I was down 21 pounds in six weeks, but I went a little overboard at our big family feast and felt bloated that night and next day. After sixteen weeks, I am down over 30 pounds and took out my smaller size clothes. My blood pressure is around 100/ 70, and I’m sure my next cardiologist visit will result in a further decrease in meds. My doctor says he can’t stop all my blood pressure meds because some are needed to treat my A-fib.
I hope to lose another twenty-five pounds, but am not in a hurry to do it. I may push for another five or so before I go back to my heart doctor. I will be 74 in April and my wife and I try to walk a few times a week and we both participate in a one-hour class called Sit and Get Fit at our local senior center every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. I am trying to lose about a pound per week.
