Many individuals who follow the Nutritarian diet write to Dr. Fuhrman about their success. Keep in mind that results vary from person to person. As always, consult your physician if you have a medical history and/or condition that may warrant individual recommendations.

I've tried just about every sort of diet, including the Paleo Diet, which exacerbated my cholesterol (and I refused to take statins). About 7 years ago, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia. At the same time, I also was tested for food allergies because I had visited the emergency room several times with uncontrollable vomiting and diarrhea. I am allergic to casein in milk and have developed a severe gluten allergy.
About a year ago, I discovered the Nutritarian diet. I heard a report that if you are 55 and can't easily rise from the floor, you will likely die by age 75. I was horrified and knew there had to be a way. Then I saw a few minutes of Dr. Fuhrman on PBS and jumped up, ordered a book online and joined the monthly subscription club. Now many of my food allergies became a thing of the past, although I continued with limited alcohol and a lot of chocolate. I was still suffering from extreme fatigue and pain which prevented me from working any regular work week.
When I saw the detox program information, I jumped on it! I truly believe in the diet because I was convinced that sugar, alcohol and meat were triggers for me and it was an opportunity to focus on me and my health.
My husband has joined me and we are now continuing with one day per week of juice fasting. And although my last cholesterol was still 234, all of my lipids were in balance and a cardiac calcium CT scan showed that I have 0 calcium deposits in my heart! I know this is due to the Nutritarian diet.
And for the past 6 weeks I have been able to work nearly 40 hours a week! I sleep better, crave salads and healthy foods and dislike the full feeling after eating outside of the diet. I'm maintaining my weight and look forward to gradually achieving a more ideal weight of around 150 pounds. I pass by the candy dish in my office space twenty times and day and am no longer tempted; it's just not worth it! I like feeling good too much.
