Many individuals who follow the Nutritarian diet write to Dr. Fuhrman about their success. Keep in mind that results vary from person to person. As always, consult your physician if you have a medical history and/or condition that may warrant individual recommendations.

Bill's Story

Bill feels younger after losing lost 50 pounds, lowering his blood pressure and sleeping better

I learned about Dr. Fuhrman from the movie Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead.  The movie inspired me, but I was more interested in eating solid food than juicing. I thought Dr. Fuhrman's message made sense as it contained both scientific research and common sense.  I read Eat To Live and that got me started on Dr. Fuhrman's program. At that time (February 2014), I weighed around 235 pounds at 6 feet tall.  Now (September 2014), I weigh around 185 pounds. I may lose more as I plan to keep this lifestyle for life.

I also have toned up and built some muscle.  When I started my blood pressure was 136/80 with a resting heart rate of 66.  These days it averages 100/60 with a resting heart rate around 55.  I was pre-diabetic with blood glucose at 124; now it ranges from 70-80, safely out of the pre-diabetic range. I'm sleeping better, I look and feel younger, and I have more energy.  I'm a busy single dad, and I've learned to enjoy cooking; I use my Vitamix and pressure cooker, and Dr. Fuhrman Member Forums daily to keep up with recipes, tips and motivation.

After some weight loss, I started working out, lifting weights, and even joining exercise classes at my work gym. I subscribe to Dr Fuhrman's saying that "you lose weight in the kitchen and build muscles in the gym".  One topic of interest to me is food budgeting. I take special interest in eating healthy on a budget and dispelling any notions that eating this way is more expensive. One of my tips is to cook dried beans from scratch.  Thanks Dr. Fuhrman and the best of health to all!
