Many individuals who follow the Nutritarian diet write to Dr. Fuhrman about their success. Keep in mind that results vary from person to person. As always, consult your physician if you have a medical history and/or condition that may warrant individual recommendations.
Pam amazed her doctor with her quick 45 pound weight loss and the big improvement in her blood work
I want to say thank you. In the fall of 2012 I was watching the Dr Oz. show and Dr. Fuhrman was a guest. I went on line and reserved Eat To Live from our library. It was quite popular because I was not able to pick it up until late February 2013. I took the book with me on vacation. By then I had decided that Dr. Fuhrman's program could work. It was possible for me to lose weight and get off of my medication. I am a type 2 diabetic, and, at that time, I was on blood pressure medication, cholesterol medication, diabetes medication and also something for my thyroid. Everything was under control, but that was it, under control. On the way home I was reading inserts of the book to my husband because, for this to work, it would have to be a complete lifestyle change, and we would have to do it together.
At that time I did not consider my husband overweight. His blood pressure was borderline, but the doctor never said it was an issue. He was, however, on the same cholesterol medication as I was and he also had a problem with his triglycerides being too high. He listened to what I read as he was driving and we decided to purchase the book so that he could also read it.
It was not easy giving up cheese, the meat not so much, we were not big meat eaters, but the milk, eggs, butter and the cheese were the hardest. There were a few things we did not give up like coffee, and we do eat fish two times a week, but we did make many changes.
We both had our annual checks ups prior to starting your program. About a month after we started our new way of eating, I was taken off of my blood pressure medication. Approximately three months after we started we went back to our doctor and it was great. He could not believe the changes in our blood work and weight in just three months. He was totally amazed, asked us what made us do it. He shook our hands when we left his office because he said it was not too often that he could take his patients off medication.
At that time my husband lost 28 pounds, his blood pressure, cholesterol and triglycerides were the best they had ever been and he was taken off of his cholesterol medication. I lost 40 pounds, was taken off of my cholesterol medication too and my diabetes medication was cut in half. The doctor said that when I came back in three months there was a good chance that I would be off that too.
So thank you, your Nutritarian program works and we are so much happier for it.
