Many individuals who follow the Nutritarian diet write to Dr. Fuhrman about their success. Keep in mind that results vary from person to person. As always, consult your physician if you have a medical history and/or condition that may warrant individual recommendations.

Rebecca was plagued by two autoimmune diseases including MS; now she no longer takes medication for MS and has reduced her thyroid medication; feels better than ever
After the birth of my first child I was diagnosed with Hashimotos Thyroiditis (an autoimmune disease. I didn't know much about it and asked my endocrinologist if I could do anything, change my diet, to help my body overcome this condition. He said there was nothing I could do but take medication for the rest of my life.
Then, in August 2015 I lost most of my vision in my right eye. I consulted an optical neurologist who sent me for an MRI and diagnosed me with optical neuritis caused by multiple sclerosis. I had several lesions in my brain which confirmed the diagnosis of MS. Apparently, it's very common to have more than one autoimmune condition.
At that moment my world fell apart. I had two young children and a husband, I was employed part time and thought that my future looked very bleak. My experience and knowledge of MS was an aunt who was still alive but was in a care facility. She can now only move one finger on one hand.
I was given medication to prevent future MS relapses, but I quickly started doing my own research to see if there is anything I could do to halt the progression of MS. Medications may reduce but not completely prevent further disease activity. I attended a MS retreat in 2016 and met someone who said to me Eat to Live changed my life. So, when I got home, I quickly bought and read the book.
After reading about a Nutritarian diet I gave up all seafood and oils. Giving up animal products and packing my plate with nutritious food was easy after reading the book. In the last couple of years since eating this way I have weaned off MS medication, which had risky side effects (like skin cancer and death)! I've never felt better, I lost 23 pounds and I'm symptom and relapse free and have kept a constant ideal weight for the last two years.
I have reduced my thyroid medication and a recent blood test showed that I have very little autoimmunity towards my thyroid. My CRP, an indicator of inflammation, was almost undetectable. I attribute this to my very anti-inflammatory diet, stress reduction and moderate exercise. If I hadn't found Dr Fuhrman's book, I may not have the success that I do today.
