Ok here's my update; DIVINE. I took everyone's comments, soaked the dates, used that little bit of extra water in with the berries and I did find that adding a little extra water to the pear made if very juicey. YUM. even my SAD eater husband said this was the best. PS we are saving some of the topping to use on oatmeal.

Hi folks; I rated this a 5 and somehow lost my comment. Oh well. Tonight I am trying this with frozen organic blueberries from a recent day out picking. hope it's just as good.

You should be able to also use a conventional oven to cook the pears:  Preheat oven to 400°F. Place large baking sheet in oven to heat. Cut 2 sheets of foil, each about 12 inches long. Place 1 foil sheet on work surface. Cut each pear in half and remove the core and the place 1 pear (2 halves) on the sheet, drizzle with 1/2 of the lemon juice and then fold over the foil and seal around the edges so the juice can't get out.  Then bake for 5 minutes and check for done-ness.  Reserve the juice for the sauce.

I really am not comfortable using a microwave.  :(

We thought this was excellent. The first time I made it, I did have to add a teaspoon or two of water to the blender, because I didn't have much cooking liquid either (@hbielich). The second time I made it, I softened the dates in warm water before using them and used a little of the soaking water for the blender instructions. You could also mix the lemon juice with a few teaspoons of water before drizzling on the pears. Same result. We both gobbled this down. Both times. Simple and delicious.

I had some troubles with this. I used 2 bosch pears. There was very little juice left from microwaving them. 2/3 cup of raspberries with juice and date in the blender was difficult because there needed to be more for the blender to do a proper job of it.
I will try a different type of pear next time and see if that helps.
Tried again...
This time I used 2 Bartlett pears. It did yield a little more juice. However, since one teaspoon of lemon juice is difficult to drizzle on 2 pears (cut in half) I used 3 teaspoons lemon juice instead. I also used 3 medjool dates and 1.25 cups of thawed raspberries. This also made it much easier for the blender to work. The result was very pleasing! I raised my rating from 3 stars to 4.
I highly recommend these changes.

I am surprised that a microwave would be recommended. I don't consider them healthy.
