Therapeutic Ionizer
Negative ions, good for your emotional well-being and your environment
The air we breathe is full of positive and negative ions. Ions are charged atoms; negative ions are beneficial. Negative ions are created in nature by sunlight, moving water and moving air. Negative ions are in high concentration at the beach (ocean currents), by waterfalls, in forests and mountains –all the places that we feel good after we visit them. The best ratios of negative to positive ions are also the time before, during, and after storms. The worst are found in windowless rooms and closed, moving vehicles. Negative ions are also neutralized by car exhaust, factory fumes, smoke and dust.
The antidepressant effect of a high concentration of negative air ions has been demonstrated in patients with chronic depression in a few different studies. The most recent study used a strong ion generator exposing participants with major depression to a high flow rate of negative air ions for one hour each day and it demonstrated a 50 percent rate of remission for depressed patients.1
Most negative ion generators and air cleaners do not produce a high enough concentration of negative ions to be considered therapeutic. We have researched and found that the Wein VI-2500 is what we consider to be the most effective ionizer and in addition have made it as cost-effective as possible.
The goal is to combine light therapy, nutritional therapy, and ion therapy to achieve high rates of remission that should exceed the response rate to medication, without the side effects. Mimicking a more natural light and ion exposure that would be found on a warm sunny beach can help with migraines, attention difficulties, restless legs, fatigue and anxiety.
Our therapeutic ionizer also serves as a room air purifer because it attracts dust, pollens, mold spores, bacteria, viruses, pet dander, dust, cigarette smoke and toxic chemical fumes. (12/01/03: Ions Protect in I.C.U. Study) Once these unhealthy environmental particles are attracted to the ionizer, they are pulled to the ground by electrostatic forces, resulting in cleaner, fresher smelling air.
